Privacy Policy

Effective May 8, 2026

Melo is a journaling app that turns short text entries into ambient music. We've designed it to ask for only what we need to make that work, and to keep your entries private to you.

Short version: we store your account, the words you write, and the audio Melo generates from them. We don't sell your data, and we don't show your entries to anyone but you. You can delete your account and entries at any time.

Who we are

Melo is operated by Stephan Kop ("we", "us"), based in the Netherlands. For privacy questions, you can reach us at hello@melo-journal.nl.

Service providers

We use a small number of trusted providers to run Melo. They process data only on our behalf:

Data retention and deletion

We keep your entries for as long as your account is active. You can delete an individual entry at any time from inside the app. To delete your account and all associated data, email hello@melo-journal.nl from the address on the account, and we'll remove everything within 30 days.

Your rights

If you're in the EEA, UK, or California, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Email hello@melo-journal.nl and we'll handle the request within 30 days.

Children

Melo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the account.

Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored encrypted at rest at our provider. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to be honest with you if something goes wrong.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the effective date above and, when material, notify you in the app or by email.
